ANTARCTIC EARTHQUAKE
DECEPTION ISLAND SWEPT EXPEDITION SHIP SHAKEN (MAN FATALLY INJURED. (Copyright—Wilkins Expedition.) DECEPTION ISLAND, Jan. 3. An earthquake swept Deception Island to-day, making huge holes in the ground. The expedition’s ship was severely shaken. Two bridges at th e land station wore smashed and four men were thrown from the oil tank. One was killed and the others were seriously injured. None of the expedition’s members was injured and the equipment was not damaged.
