TE NGUTU-O-TE-MANU DOMAIN

(To the Editor.;

Sir, —After passing through your town recently on a motor tour we happened to come upon the Te Ngutu-o-te-Manu Domain. Attracted by its appearance we drove in and pitched our camp for the night. I am just writing to you to place on record our delight, with the place and our apprecition of the courtesy extended to us by the caretaker there. It is, as lie explained to us, a most historic place and of great interest to all who are at all interested in early New Zealand history. When added to this atraction are two fine tennis courts, a children’s playground, facilities for washing, etc., and delightful hush surroundings it is a camping site which must have few equals anywhere. The caretaker -was kindness itself, being ready to do everything possible to help us. 'He took us to the very spot in the bush where the gallant Von Tempsky fell, having had the place pointed out to him in turn by old Maoris of the district. Again, sir, I wish to say what an exceptionally fine camping ground you have in this domain and to recommend it to anyone passing through your town in search of a delightful place to camo. —I am, etc., C. D. EVELYN. Waitomo Caves, Jan. 3.
