NAVAL PARITY
TRIFLING DISCREPANCY OBJECTIVE OF CONVERSATIONS ABOLITION OF COMPETITION. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Nov. 17. “The only discrepancy between the British and American views of naval parity is a minor matter of 30,000 cruiser tonnage out of a total of 2,400,000,” said General Dawes (American Ambassador) at a dinner of the London District Institute of Journalists.
He described the objective of the naval conversations as the abolition of competitive construction and the reduction of fleets t<> the defensive minimum.
The Rt. Hon. Ramsay MacDonald transmitted a message stating: “None is more powerful to strengthen or weaken the hands of the peacemaker than the Press.”
