HAWERA BRANCH RESOLUTION PARLIAMENTAMAN'S’ BONUS. At a meeting of the Hawera branch, of the Amalgamated Society of Railway servants held 1 on Friday evening, the following resolution was adopted: “The Hawera Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants takes strong exception to the action of the members of Parliament- in voting themselves a bonus of £IOO, .being, a, restoration of the salaries -cut -brought into action by Parliament in 1922 and 100 per cent extra as good measure, whilst voting against the return ot even a small percentage of the same cut to the rest of the public servants, the majority of whom are below the bread and batter line. Tile amendment of the member for Waikato—in ,reckissification —as carried by the House, is regarded by this _ branch, as eyewash’ for the voting public, which, contrary to fact, is being led to believe that all members of the service under £295 per annum, receive an automatic annual increment. iins branch also considers that*, a lack ot political courage was displayed; .by tine Acting-Leader of the House and those others responsible in bringing up their bonus in the last hours of the session, instead of dealing with it at the -same time as the motion for the restoration or the salaa-v outs, proposed by the leader of the Labour Party was dealt with The matter of Parliamentary bonus could have been brought into line with the other amendment.
