DAMAGE TO A POST.
The British Post Office recently sued n woman and her husband at Norwich for £2O damages to a telegraph post. The evidence showed that the motorvan belonging to the couple, skidded on a snow-covered road, hitting the 'pole and causing; the damage. The judge remarked that it was a most improper action for a Government Department to bring; lie pointed out that the husband was earning only 30s per week and had to pay for something lor which he had not the slightest moral responsibility'. He .asked why the Postmaster-General, representing a public department, insisted on having his last ounce of flesh.
