LATE MR. R. LAMBIE.

PIONEER LAID TO REST. The widespread esteem in which the late Air Robert Ltunbie, of Pihama, was held was evidenced yesterday atfiternoon when several hundred people from all over the district, including members of organisations with which the deceased gentleman had been connected, and comrades of early pioneer days, attended the funeral at the Mamin cemetery.

Following a short service at the home, a lengthy cortege wended its way from Piliaima, .being joined on the way by othietrs wlro wished to pay their last respects. At the cemetery a large huttlher had already gathered, and when the funeral procession arrived over 100 cars were in the vicinity. One ear was needed to eany the large number of beautiful floral tributes that had been received. The graveside service was conducted by the Revs. Miller (Murrain) and Wheatley (Opunake), and deceased was laid to rest alongside his wife 'and the two sons who. predeceased him. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. Pettigrew, B. McCarthy, J. McHardy, W. Marr, A. Good and S. Forsyth. Wreaths were laid on the grave from the following: Dominion executive New Zealand Fanners’ Union, South Taranaki provincial executive Farmers ’ Union, Opunake Presbyterian Church congregation, Pihama Dairy Company directors and suppliers, Opunalcc Bowling Club, Normanby Horticultural Society, Pihama Bowling Club, Taranaki Farmers’ Union Mutual Fire Insurance Association, Mr and Mrs A.
