Campbell, Johnstone, chairman of the Waikato- board criticised the system of native representation in. Parliament. Some speakers were opposed to having: a Maori as Native Minister.
Protesting against these sentiments Air. Heinami. Pokiba. chairman of the A.raiwa Development League, has telegraphed to Mr. Johnstone : “The Arawa.s unitedly protest against the views e.xfressed regarding Sir Ajpira.ua- Ngatu and consider them a deep outrage- to him and those he represents. It the prestige- of British ideals rests only on such in tolerance anti racial prejudice-, | and not on freedom and proved capacity, then the friendship- now existing between Maori and paketha will bo destroyed.
