MEETING OF N.Z. COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. o. At a meeting of the council of Hie New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association held last night, Mr McVilly nre>siding, a telegram received from the Otago Centre stated that it would bo impossible to hold the New Zealand cy cuing road championship in that district if the September date was adhered to.

Mr McVilly said that he disapproved of the method of hawing the championships about the ca'untry, and considered that the centres to which championships were allotted should carry them out.

Mr Wright said he was certain Otago could run the race if they wished. The event is to be given to Canterbury subject to acceptance of a. date not later than October.

Permission was given to the AVanga-nui-Tarana-ki centre to- hold the New Zealand Amateur Athletic championship on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15.

Affiliation was granted: to the Kaiapoi Harriers’ Club. Leslie Bonner, of Wanganui, was reinstated as an amateur cyclist. Reference was made by Mr McVilly to some trouble at Auckland through if cling against the president of the -ceiltie, Mr Morton. He said that it was to he, regretted that Mr Morton’s good work should bo forgotten and his mistakes magnified. Ho. expressed the hope now that nev T Auckland centre inlles had been put in hand the chibs would do their part in the best interests of amateur athletics.
