MINISTER'S MISSION TO CANADA. MORE BUSINESS WITH BRITAIN WANTED. (Austraiian Press Association—United Service.) OTTAWA, Sept. 3. At Winnipeg, the Rt. Hon. J. H. Thomas, British Minister in charge of unemployment relief, discussed with farm organisation officials closer trade relationship between Canada and the i United Kingdom, methods 1 to alleviate ' unemployment in England, and future , immigration plans to the Dominion. To officers of the Canadian wheat pool Air- Thomas suggested the possibility of the pood extending its policy of purchase of .machinery from Great Britain. He thought every effort should bo made by Canadians to buy in British markets when articles were not obtainable in Canada. The discussions were frank and satisfactory. Addressing the Canadian Club, Air Thomas said there was no intention of I solving the British unemployment problem by dumping a large number of people into Canada. He merely asked Canadians to give Great Britain a fair share of their business and so ease unemployment in Britain. “You spend only on.c pound with us for every four pounds you spend in the United States. You import 1(5,000,000 tons of American coal and I ant going to get some of that I for this, the best customer you have,” lie added.
