PUBLIC TRUST CONTROL

ADMINISTERING AN ESTATE

A\ direction from the Government t-o the Public Trustee to surrender his control of her estate is< sought in a petition presented to Parliament op behalf of Maud Ellen Farr, of Portland Crescent, Wellington, wife of Professor Coleridge Farr, of Canterbury College, Cliristohuroli, says the “Dominion.” Petitioner states that when she was an inmate of a. .mental hospital, the Public Trustee, in 1917, took over control of the portion of her estate an New Zealand, but left in the hands of her husband the control of certain valuable property in the Argentine. Petitioner was discharged from the Mental Hospitals Department in May, 1923, and had not since been an inmate of any such institution, having paid visits abroad, and having not been under any form el' supervision or control. Petitioner says she list very dissatisfied with the administration of her affairs by the Public Trustee since difficulties have been placed in the way of receiving the income of her estate; since -accounts for personal expenses have been paid without her being consulted as to their accuracy, and since some of the property lias been allowed to deteriorate and. some of her assets (for example,] shares) have 'been held when they .should have, in her opinion, been sold. In making her request to the Government, as outlined above, petitioner states that she is not in a financial position to apply to the Supreme Court for an order releasing, her estate from the control of the Puiblio Trustee.
