TOKAORA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL, CONCERT. A very enjoyable afternoon was tela at the Tokaora school, when .the cunitwen presented a concert .to celebrate t-ne breaking up. tor the holidays, Many parents were present-, and were unanimous iu the opinion that the teacher (Mrs Oiia-mberJiain) and the pupils worked hard to put- on sucih a creditable pertorxnance. The programme was as follows: Opening chorus, “The Cheer Germ,” ail; recitation, *‘A Dream,’ Leslie Macdonald; chorus, “The Hunt is Up,” ah; recitations. “The Blackbird,” N. Johnson, and “The Kangaroo,” H. Macdonald; action soug and dance, “Little Nurses,” Doris Banks, M. Schioker and >S. B. and K. Johnson; pianoforte solo. Betty Johnson; poi dance and song, Ellen Johnson; recitation, “The Lace Pedlar,” Albert Schieker; songs, '•Nursery Rhymes,” primers; recitation, Susie Johnson; song, “Old Ediks at Hotme,” Reg. Hall and Bill Spice; two folk dances, “Butterfly Dance” and “Mountain March,” senior girls.; recitations, Doris and Don Banks; J apanese play, “Good for Evil; “God Save the- King,” accompaniment by S. Johnson.
The characters in the play-were:—Mr Rich S;an, Phyllis Macdonald ; his wife, Lottie Bennett; Cherry Blossom, Dorothy Finlay; Louis Bud and Mayflower (Ins daughters), Kathleen Wren andi Hazel Tippet; Mr Poor San (Rich San’s brother), Mary Macdonald; iMrs Poor San, Dolly Spice; Red Rose, Nancy Johnson; Moonflower and Tiger Lily (Iris daughters), Myra- Wren and Margaret Chamberlain. After the programme- was finished, the chairman (Mr H. Ay l '® ll ) congratulated the teacher and pupils on their fine work, and. on behalf of Mrs Chamberlain, presented the -squad prizes? to those who had the most points during the term. The squad prizes were awarded to bb-e----following:—Doris:—Doris Banks, Betty Johnson, Dolly Spice, Nancy Johnson, Reg. Hall, Donald Banks. Albert Schicker, Hugh Chamberlin and Joe Slater.
