TO-MORROW’S ANNUAL MEETING. KEEN RACING EXPECTED. CANDIDATES' FORAI REVIEWED. With such excellent fields of fairclass performers the Taranaki Hunt Club should have a most successful meeting at New Plymouth to-morrow. Winners appear to be well concealed, and. bettors may experience some trouble in finding them. The recent fair weather has favourably influenced the tracks, and shoAld the present spring-like conditions hold the course will be in perfect condition for racing. ***** The first event is due to start at 11.45, and the eighth at 4.30 p.m. * * * * * if produced at anything like his best, .lust John should be prominent in the Popper ton Hunters’ Hurdles. San Fern showed a glimpse of form at Trenthnni last month and will run well. ***** The* Opnnako Scurry contains the names of some smart hacks, and attunes Black Odin and Annoyer have threatened to win. Their turn may not be far oil 1 , and they (should perform creditably,- if produced to-morrow. *** * * *

Those engaged in the Maiden Hunters’ Steeplechase are of unknown quantity. Karangawai has improved since going into Ri. Barlow’s charge, and he may prove equal to any of the moderate class engaged, while Mandate and Calculation may be prominent. * * * * * As Singer has been working well, and the opposition is not strong, backers may prefer liis chance for the Waihi Hack Flat. Boundary and .Toko Form are both well seasoned . and should make the event interesting. ***** A good class of hunters figure* in. the Hunt Club Cup, and several of the acceptors will be well supported. 1[ a starter, Odin should be favourite, although Waitaunah u need only produce the form shown by him at Trentham last month and lie will make matters interesting for the northerner. ***** On the form exhibited bv him at Riecarton recently Bonogne should be the elect of backers for. the Stratford Handicap, but if Oration can only be persuaded to do his best lie would prove too good for his chestnut rival. » * * * * Calitlie is very well at present, and no doubt will "be favourite for the Hunters’ Flat. Of the others engaged Patrolott has at times shown some pfico 4* * w * * The winner of the Urenui Hack Handicap may be suggested by the form shown by something racing earlier in the day. At this stage Black Odin and Monoioff appear to bold good pros-1 pects.
