The probability of an increase in thi? bank rate is indicated in the half-yearly report of the Commonwealth Bank. Thq report refers to the unsettled condition of the American money market, and then emphasises that, although the bank rate, remains at 5% per cent, in London, opinion is speculating upon the possibility of a hardening rather than reduction of the bank rate, which., the report states, i,o bound to have some, reflection in Australia.
