CORRESPONDENCE.

THE POWER. BOARD LOAN

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —“A man who is capable ol thinking can express himself at all times m clear, comprehensible, and

unambiguous words. Those who construct difficult, obscure, involved, and ambiguous phrases most certainty do | not rightly know what it is they wish to say.”—Schopenhauer Those of us who were disgusted at what appeared to he a childish act on the part of the South Taranaki Power Board in issuing, the pamphlet are certainly not in a different frame of mind as regards the recent utterances of the chairman, Mr. Murdoch. It is most difficult to understand what it is.that Mr. Murdoch is trying to convey to us, his statements are so obscure to the uninitiated. He seems to be so emphatic, and then in almost the next breath semi-eontradicts himself, and thus his statements appear to finally appear meaningless.. Take the following as an illustration: “I say positively there will be no rate and the busi-' nass will grow by leaps and bounds.” “If the guarantee was for £33 and current was used to the extent of £25 they would have to find the difference.” “Unless some other commodity comes in to replace electricity there is no possibility of a rate.” What can anyone make of such apparently nebulous remarks ! J And surely Mr. Murdoch is labouring under a delusion if he imagines he is influencing ratepayers one way or the other. Again thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., DISCUSTED R. ATEPAYER. P.S.—J. B. M. and' “A. Gorsedge” j are well out of it at guessing.
