ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

THREE MEN INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 28. Two motor-cyciists, William Charles Skinner and Gitnelg Bartaul, collided head-on in the- Great North Road, Avondale, to-night. Skinner sustained severe cuts on the fact and Bartaul had la boot torn off and received minor injuries to the loot . Both escaped remarkably Lightly, however, compared with A-ifred James Turner, Avondale, who was a. pillion passenger on one machine. He was thrown heavily to -the centre, erf the road and was then run over by a following motor-bus. In addition to a very bad compound fracture of the right leg just above the knee and a double fracture of the same leg above the ankle, his right arm was badly broken and he sustained severe head injuries, believed to be a fracture of the skull. His right leg wa,s amputated shortly after he was admitted to hospital and his condition at a. late hour was critical.

FATAL (MOTORING AiGCIDENT

DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 29.

Another fatality occurred near Dannevirke last evening, when a ear went over Gibbs’ hill, near Mangatera. It was driven iby James 'Scott Smith, a motor salesman, and with him was G. M. Peak, an assistant in the Government Audit office. The ear was on its way to Napier, ;but nearipg the top of the hill, commenced a shimmy, and almost before the driver eould regain control, leaped over a 'bank, a drop of about 20 feet. Peak was killed instantly, dislocating his neck, but his companion escaped with a few abrasions.
