, cep ted by the Victorian College Council, lias accepted the position of general secretary of the New Zealand Political Reform League, and takes over the latter position a,t the end of September on the retirement of the present secretary, Mr Ernest A. James. The death of the Rev. .Ambrose John Wilson, D.D., at the age of 76 years, is reported from London. He was headmaster of the Church of England Grammar School, Melbourne, from 1885-93 and a member of the council of Trinity College, Melbourne University. Dr. Wilson was a director of the Royal Humane Society of Australia, and New Zealand, and a vcie-president of the Amateur Athletic Association, Victoria. A vote of sympathy with Hie relatives of the late Mr G. E. Reed, of Hawera, whose death occurred last ! week was recorded by the social committee of the Ilawera Amateur Athletic j Club at a meeting held on Monday. hi.s death was a member of the executive committee. At the annual meeting of the .Toll Dairy Company yesterday, reference was made Iby tho chairman to the deaths of 'Mr- J. F. Stevenson, a supplier for many years; Mr John iDaley, a director, and Mr 'Samuel Turner, agent for a firm that has done a lot of business with the company. On Mr Murdoch’s .motion a vote of sympathy and .condolence with their relatives iwas carried and at his request those present stood a few moments in silence out of respect to their memory. Mr Robert Hall, father of 'Mrs A. Shepherd of Hawera, died at Wellington last Thursday morning.
