In the Pe-tone Court, Bertha Constance Lanson, a. married woman, who keeps a. confectionery shop, was charged with selling beer. A constable gave evidence that he found two men with a companion in defendant ’s shop under suspicious circumstances.

THE CUBIS TRAGEDY. AUCKLAND, Aug. 22. Appearing for the third time in the Police Court, Annie Elizabeth Cubis, aged 40. was charged with the murder on August 6 of .her twin boys, I iniothy Brian Cubis and William Cubis. She was remanded until August 29.

CHARGES OE THEFT ADMITTED. AUCKLAND. Aug. 22. Eleven robberies from suburban houses had a sequel in the Police Court when Cyril Patterson, aged 21. and Thomas Henry Mclntyre, aged 21. pleaded guilty to all 11 charges of theft, and Hector Donald Connolly, aged 19, to five of the 11 charges. The police said all the three accused wore out on license from a Borstal institution. and started flic- robberies 13 da vs after their release. Connollv left to take up work at Heleusvilie after five robberies had been committed. Patterson and AlcIntvre. then carried on by themselves. Patterson and Mclntyre were sentenced to three years’ reformative detetion, and Connolly to two years’ reformative detention.
