BODY OF MINER WASHED ASHORE. (By Telegraph—lVees AsstKiiatiun. # GREYMOUTH, Aug. 19. The body of Peter H. Kennedy, aged 49, a miner, urns washed up by ithe sea yesterday at Blaketown beach. He had been missing since July 6 from his home at Dobson. An inquest was [held to-day, when the coroner, Mr Meldlruimi, S.M., expressed the. opinion tba-t the proprietor of Buck’s Head Hotel. Tayjorvifile, “was greatly to blame” for serving the deceased, with four drinks when he was already under the influence of liquor, and allowing him to go home after dark with nobody in attendance. A verdict was returned of death by drowning by. accident-aly falling into the river.

INJURIES PROVE FATAL. WANGANUI, Aug. 19. Agues Ethel Ryland, aged 15, who was thrown from a bolting horse on Saturday afternoon and seriously injured, died this morning. HEAD-ON COLLISION. HAMILTON, Aug. 19. A, ear driven by Mr R. H. Montgomery, of Auckland, collided at- Tallin ri yesterday with another driven by Dr. Fairclougb. of Auckland. Montgomery was coming from Auckland, and was overtaking -a third car* on a bend when he met Fairclougb, going north. A head-on collision took place-, both cars being practically ruined. The only person injured was Mrs Montgomery, who was cut- about- the face bv flying glass. She was treated at Ngaruwahia. and afterwards proeoed’ed to Auckland.
