CO-OPERATIVE DAIRYING.

KOiri COMPANY. The seventeenth annual meeting of the Kohi Dairy Company was held at Wavorley . yesterday, Air C. Oliver (chairman) presiding. The directors’ annual report stated that Is old had been paid out for buttcr-fat supplied during the season. The balance-sheet showed a gross profit of £1222 17s lid. During the season the manulacture of standardised cheese was adopted, and although it is too early yet to form a definite judgment, the results so far obtained point to it being a success.

Suppliers will no cioubt have noticed that complaints have 'been made by certain British firms regarding the quality of New Zealand cheese, particularly as to its openness, and investigations as to the causes are now being made at the Government laboratory, which it is hoped will result in the discovery 1 of the source of the trouble, as it is of the first importance that the product i should be of the quality required. To thi s end it is essential that suppliers' should endeavour to assist their factory staffs by doing their utmost to supply first-class milk. Up to date .payments per lb. for butter-fat have been Is .).84di. A further payment of one penny per lb will be made available by the date of the annual meeting.” Statistics for the season were: Total pounds milk, 9,132,370; total pounds buttei'fat, 384.914.14; total pounds cheese, 979,933; milk to chee.se,! 9.3111); cheese to butterfat, 2.551 b;! average test, 4.2. j The chairman congratulated the suppliers on a good year, although prices I could have been better.
