SEPARATION PROCEEDINGS.
WAR. BRIDE’S PLAINT. To Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., ar the Haw-era Magistrate’s Court to-day, Ellen Godkin applied for separation, maintenance and guardianship “ orders against William Godkin, farmer of Taurakawa, inland from Stratford, alleging failure to maintain anti persistent cruelty. Mr. P. O’Dea appeared for • omplaiiiant and Mr. A. K. North for defendant. In evidence complainant stated that she was married to defendant in Scotland in 1919, defendant then being a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. She had followed him out to New; Zealand and had gone to live with him on a farm in the backblocks, 32 miles from Stratford. There had been two children of the marriage. This year there had been trouble between witness and her husband and they had separated. He had accused her of immorality and carrying on with men, which site stenuously denied. Defendant had taken the children, and they were not being properly oared for. The case was proceeding as this edition went to press.
