MATTER FOR GOVERNMENT. “We can’t dictate what should be done,” said Cr E. Long, chairman of the Waimatc West County Council, .at the monthly meeting of that body yesterday, when a letter was received from the Taranaki Employers'’ Federation drawing attention to the fact that the Minister of Transport (Hon. W. A. Veitch) proposes to move in Parliament for a universal Saturday half-holiday throughout the Dominion. ‘ ‘lt is a' national question, ’ ’ Cr Long added, “and it is one for the Government to deal with.” The letter was formally received.
