VISIT TO BLENHKLM ißv Telegraph ■fM’sa AsM*-'.aii.n.. ■ BLENHEIM, Aug. 14. Extraordinary public interest was centred in the special visit to Blenheim of the French cruiser Tourville’s huge Cams amphibian aeroplane, and it is interesting to note that when her wheels touched the ground at Woodbo:.rue field it was her first ground landing since leaving France. The pilot. Lieut. J. G. M. Bellaivdo. who was accompanied by Major L. Al. 1 sitt. acting-director of air services, and a mechanic, was welcomed by the Mayor and officials of the Marlborough Aero Club, and the party were subsequently entertained in town. Lieut. Bellando, replying to the welcome, said there was no aerodrome in the whole of France to even begin to compare with the Woodbourne field.
The amphibian was met half-way across the Strait by one of the aero club’s Moths and escorted to the field. She made a perfect take-off on the return journey to Wellington at 4.15 p.m. Blenheim is the only town in New Zealand to be visited by the plane
