SHIPPING FREIGHTS.
RECOMMENDATIONS OF CONFERENCE.

Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. SYDNEY, April 12. The main recommendations in fibe report of the overseas shipping conference are: — . That the cost of transport should no longer he increased by special taxes; that when shipping profits are urua.de they should be taxed once and once ou Iv, namelv, in the country ot residence of the shipping company ; that there should be no legislative bar io the making of agreements lor the car-riafi-e- of produce and the rates or freight should he determined in the country of origin of the eaigoes.
The shipping report suggests that as a means of meeting the shopowner s losses there should he a seven per cent increase in freights to Austialia, yielding £300,000.
