DECLINING BIRTH-RATE.

LONDON, April 10. Commenting on the continued fall of the birth-rate the Registrar-General says since 1923 the birth-rate has entered upon a stage which, if there is not an improvement in the future, must ultimately result in a declining population. The return for 1927, which has just been published, shows 40,391 fewer births than in 1926, the rate for the year being the lowest recorded.
