RANSOM DEMANDED
FOR RELEASE OF BRITISH. SUBJECT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 27. The Foreign Secretary, Sir Austen Chamberlain, stated in the House of Commons that a, ransom of 24,000 dollars had been demanded for the release of Mr Reid, a British subject, and of the American citizens who were captured by Mexican bandits. The British Minister at Mexico City had addressed representation to the Mexican Government. He reported that the pursuit of the bandits by the Federal troops had temporarily been suspended, and the Saint Nicholas Milling Company, by whom Air Reid and the Americans, were employed, were treating for the amount of ransom to be paid. '
