At Broken Hill all mines are idle in consequence of the Barrier Industrial Council’s call for a twenty-four hour stoppage as a protest against amendments to the Workers’ Compensation Act. Demonstrators marched the streets, intervieAved the Mayor at the Toavu Hall and sent a telegram to the Government asking for the measure to he Avitli drawn or modified + o a humane degree.
