ACID POURED OVER HIM.
FIENDISH ATTEMPT AT MURDER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 10.30 a.m. (to-day. COLOMBO, Feb. 27. A fiendish attempt at murder . was made aboard the Mooltam. The chief saloon steward, Fowler, was sleeping in his cabin when a large quantity ctf caustic potash was poured over him by an unkonwn person. Fowler is in a critical condition. Hayes, an officer of, the MooJitan, 'is also in hospital suffering from the effects of the acid.
