DAIRY FACTORY MANAGERS

SECOND ANNUAL CONFERENCE. IMPORTANT PAPERS READ. There was a strong and representative attendance of manager® of dairy lacitories at the second conference held during the year at Moturoa yesterday when, after the usual grading competition in butter and cheese, papers were read by Mr. W. M. Singleton (Director of the Dairy Division) on problems of the industry, Professor Ridclet on the work of the Dairy Odilege, and) Mr. P. O. Veaile on the story of testing .for butter-fat in milk. A brief address of welcome was given by the Taranaki president, Mr. W. Young, who stressed the value of such conferences and; the betterment of the industry. He made reference to the problems encountered by the managers during the year, the most trying of which was the openness in cheese, which gave them so much trouble. An .outline of the work done at the recent Dominion Conference was given by Mr. A. F. Neilson, tlie hon. secretary, and some of the proposals submitted' by the executive.
