1 MAN’S GALLANT RESCUE. LIFE GIVEN FOR ANOTHER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 30. The body 7 of Stanley Renaldi, aged 23, who was drowned on January 17 while attempting to save a young woman from drowning at Pine’s beach, Kairaki, was recovered to-day at Saltwater Creek. At the inquest, Miss F. Richards giving evidence, said she accompanied Renaldi to Pine’s beach, where they bathed. They had been in the water only a few minutes when she found herself out of her depth and called for assistance. Renaldi came to her aid and held her up some time, despite a heavy sea and strong undertow. Renaldi pushed and dragged her near shore, .where two other bathers came in answer to his call and took her to safety. Renaldi said then that he was exhausted, and immediately vvas swept out by a strong undertow into the breakers, efforts to reach him bring in vain.

The coroner, before giving his Verdict of 'accidental death by drowning, commended the gallant conduct, of Renaldi, who, he said, had given his life to save Miss Richards.
