SUICIDE IN PRISON CELL.

MAORI’S WAY OUT. AWAITING [BURGLARY TRIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. A Maori labourer, Manuel Wilson, aged '29, who was arrested on. New Year’s Eve on a charge of breaking, entering and theft at the Farmers’ Trading Company, Tuakau, committed suicide in a ‘ cell at Mount Eden, gaol this morning. Ho had been in gaol on remand since January 1. He was given breakfast at <3.39 a.m. and appeared to 1 be normal. When the cell was visited at 5.30 a.m. it 'was found that he had hanged himself with a towel.

'On the night when it is alleged that deceased broke into the store at Taukau the store caught fire following an explosion early on the morning of December 30, and the damage was estimated at from £IO,OOO to £12,000.
