The case in which ex-Sergeant Goddard, formerly of the metropolitan police force, and Mrs Meyrick, proprietress of several London night clubs, pleaded not guilty to charges of accepting and giving bribes, was continued to-day. John Wilkin, who- previous to his retirement from the police force last October had been a constable under Goddard’s control, explained that he sometimes utilised Goddard’s betting tips on horse racing, which were exceptionally good. He remembered only one occasion when they were unsuccessful.
