MOTOR SPEED RECORDS.
CAPTAIN CAMPBELL TO MAKE - ANOTHER, ATTEMPT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 14. Captain Malcolm Campbell will leave shortly for -South Africa to attempt to set up a new land speed record oil hi® Blue Bird motor-car. Captain Campbell established a world record at Daytona beachi last -February with a speed of 206.956 .miles per hour, which was faster by three miles hourly than the previous record. A few days later Ray Keech heat Captain Oamp-el-l’is record by a mere fraction, hut as to the capabilities of the Blue Bird 1 , Captain Campbell stated he was travelling 220 miles hourly before he finished the” course at Daytona. The new attempt on the record will ho mia.de on an area, of firm clay 20 miles -long and 10 miles broad, about 400 miles' from Capetown. Captain Campbell states that if he fails be will return and buisd another cair, for which he hats already designs, and make a further -attempt. Major Seg.rave has bad a 1000 -horsepower car built for an attempt on the record in March- at Daytona-.
