ATTACKED BY SHARK.
TWO WOMEN BITTEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PUKEKOHE, Jan. 14. While 1 bathing in a .tidal creek near Miranda wharf on Friday evening; Mrs J. C. Foote, wife of a Pipiroa settler, and a female companion were attacked by a shark. The latter was the first victim a.nd received a nasty .bite iv the thigh. She screaimed: for help, and Mrs Foote, on going to her assistance, when near her companion received a bite on the right forearm. She lost no time in gaining the shore. Later the fin of the shark was observed cutting through the water, but disappeared. The women’s wounds were attended to and they are now progressing favourably. Miranda Creek is situated in the Ha.ur.aki Gulf, midway between Waitakaruru and New Brighton.
