KAPONGA CLUB. A PLEASING FUNCTION. At the Kapongat courts oin Thursday last, the Misses Jean, Model and Molly Severn© were the recipients of tokens of their felww club members ’ esteem on the eve of their departure for Wellington. in presenting io Miss Jean Severne a white toilet set, to Miss Maibel a dill-doll and to Miss Molly a scent spray, Mr R. Hill, (the club secretary, referred to the valued assistance rendered by the Misses Sev erne to the playing and social activities of the club, and while wishing them health and prosperity in their new home, regretted their departure from Kapouga. Afternoon tea was served by lady members of the club and the afternoon was devoted to a series of enjoy ablo games, in which between thirty and forty players participated. CLUB NOTES. Half-a-dozen, members of the, club took part in the tournalment held at Hnwei-a during Christmas week. R. McCarthy had hard luck in the boys’ championship singles, but retrieved' this in the men’s B grade handicap singles. McCarthy also represented the elub in New Plymouth tournament at New Year, but, although playing well, failed to gain a place. Tennis at Kapouga is on the _ up* 1 grade, the courts being well patronised every evening. Some' of thei members are showing much unproved l and really good form. 1 It is expected, that the postponed fixture with the Te Ngutu Club will be j played at Kaponga on Saturday next.
