BIENNIAL CONFERENCE NEXT MONTH. ELECTION OF NATIONAL COUNCIL (By Telegraph—Special to The Star.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 12. The biennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants opens at Wellington on February 4. Its sixteen delegates were elected on a national ballot, and comprise representatives of all brandies' of the tstecbnd division of the service. At the saimo election the 10,000 members of (the organisation voted on the preferential! system for their national executive council,' which holds office for two years. The successful candidates were: North Rand-—Traffic and .storeis, A. Bradey. Frankton; loco workshops, J. J. Scott. Eastown; permanent way, P. B. Gavan Frankton; way and works signal and electrical signalling workers, E Furness, Penrose. South Is-land-Traffic, M. GonmeHy. Dunedin; locct workshops, A. Morrison, HilHsidle; permanent way, E, J. Dash, .Timiarn; way and works signal, and electric isignailinp- works, E. C. Fraser, Dunedin. When the conference' has concluded a ballot of the • whole of the society’te membership will he taken to elect a nationalli president.
