LONDON, Jan. 11. ■ Sir William Bull; ’ chairman of the Channel' tunnel parliamentary committee, announces that 67 -peers and 112 members of the House of Commons definitely' favour the tunnel project. 42 peers and 11 members of the House of I Commons oppose it, and 24 peers and 86 members: of the House of Commons are neutral. MELBOURNE, Jan. 11. The timber workers’ dispute is coining to a crisis. Telegrams inviting members of the executive of the Australian Council of Trades Unions who reside in other States to attend a conference in Melbourne have been dispatched, and the view is expressed that if the conference fails to negotiate a settlement with the employers another big upheaval throughout Australia is bound t 0 occur. OTTAWA, Jan. 10. Arrangements have been completed bv the Department of Immigration to place in farm employment in Canada, six thousand British trained emigrants, the maximum number available before the end of July. The number of farm labourers from non-preferred countries has been reduced to 30 per cent; of last year’s total of 47,000* •
