Tire “Daily Mail” publishes further details regarding Major Seagrave’s new ear, which has been named “Golden Arrow.” It says that 18 months ago a milionaire visited Major Segrave and said: “I hear you want to get hack the record. Go ahead! and get .the ear built. Tell the designer to spend what he likes and to spare no money in making the ear as safe as -humanly possible.” Major Segrave commiasioned a. motor engineer, Captain living, a North Countryman, to carry out the commission. The car oost £15,000. [t may be estimated that the car will cover 160 miles during the trial 1 and racing, including run-ups and Slowdowns, equivalent to one hour’s work, and it will- .probably not be wanted after that. -The cost, works out .at £250 pea’ minute. • Practically every component .part is of the best English steel, and even small nuts were specially turned and designed. The maximum speed is 280, but fixed gear ratio® limit it to 240 miles per hour. The cockpit is armour plated. Major Segrave will bo 'strapped in \ it,. and even if the ear overturns, which is considered unlikely owing to' the Slow centre of gravity, the plating will take the shock.
