TWELVE GREEKS MISSING.
HAVOC IN ROAD CAMPS. POWDER MAGAZINE EXPLODES. (Unite,l Press- Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 11.5 a.m. to-day. SYDNEY, Jan. 12. A Bombals message reports that twelve Greeks who were employed as sleeper-cutters in the vicinity of the Whipstick mines, where the buildings have all been demolished, are missing. Great havoc lias been wrought among roacl camps at Mount Darragh. A large powder magazine blew up, hurling rock and planking for hundreds of yards. C. Farrell, a carrier, was driving a waggon loaded with petrol when the flames set fire to the waggon. 1* arrell liberated the horses before the exploding petrol shattered the vehicle.
DO MUCH DAMAGE IN VICTORIA.
MELBOURNE, Jan. 11
Devastating bush fires are sweeping the major portion of Victoria, doing tremendous damage to femes and grass property. In Gippsland narrow escapes from death were experienced by mail drivers, stockmen and bush settlers.
