SYDNEY, Jan. 11. Bush fires are now devastating the southern. •districts* of the State. A great fire at Wh-ipstiok destroyed seven houses and a. wattle hark treatment plant valued at £3O,(XXL The isehoolliouise was the only building in the village that survived the llamas. Several farms at Loohiel were reduced to ruins. At Nuabagga, the school house, teacher’s residence and pest office were destroyed. The occupants were forced to flee for their lives. Thousand® of aores of grass and many miles of fencing have been demolished and many stock have perished. In some centres fire, fighters have been working ceaselessly for two. days and nights endeavouring to check the fire®. Flames in parts of the ruined areas reached one hundred feet h;igh._ Extensive fires have also occurred in the suburbs of Sydney.
