MANAIA TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. / . ; The affairs of , the Manaia Town Board during the past month . were dealt with at the ordinary meeting of the board last night, when there were present: Comrs. H. Mead (chairman), A. H. Yarrow, W. H. Robinson, A. J. Christie, H. Symmans, E. C. Hansen, and V. F. Winter. FOREMAN’S REPORT. The foreman (Mr. J. D. Borrie) reported that during the month the work had consisted mainly of cleaning out water-tables 1 , weeding of footpaths and cleaning of streets. The tanks had been cleaned out, and all dead ends and) sewers flushed out. One water and ofie sewer connection had been put in.- ‘ Nine lamps were .. renewed. ■ It was resolved that the matter of obtaining shingle for top-dressing be left in the hands of the works committee. ' - ••• "• GENERAL. Aii, application from Mr F. O’Connor was received asking for, extension of time in regard to the cancellation of liis billiard saloon license. He added that he was trying to dispose of the business. •It was resolved on the motion of the chairman that no extension could be granted/, a motion by Cr. Christie to grant an extension to the end of the license lapsing for want of- a seconder. It was decided to proceed with the work of a sewer connection at Mr C. S. Chong’s place as- requested by him.
The question of a street- stall for the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held over till a future meeting. The matter of the leasing of. the picture hall was considered, and it was agreed to call for tenders for a period of three years. • The passing of accounts concluded the meeting. * ,
