FIRE AT ASHBURTON. (By Telegrapli—Press Association ' ASHBURTON, Jan. 5. A fire at about 12.30 caused considerable damage to the stock of William Dixon, men’s outfitters, in Somerset Buildings, owned by Mrs. Eennerty, Christchurch. The building was not greatly damaged. Dixon had been an inmate of the- hospital for some time, and the insurances are unavailable. This was the brigade’s most serjous call for over 12 months. PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. At the annual business meeting of the Presbyterian Bible Class Union it was decided to change the locale of the executive council from Christchurch to Dunedin. The following officers were elected: President. Mr. A. T. McN a ugh ton ; vice-presidents, Mr. J. W. Aitken and the Rev. Gilman Dunn; secretary, Mr. H. S. Manton.
