SEAFARER FOUND DEAD. (Bv Toiegraph—Pm* Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 4. The body of Herbert Bryant, a donkeyman on the steamer Waipatu, was found on the lawn at George Roper’s house, Spotswood, to-day with a gunshot wound in the chest. Bryant was staying with Roper on holiday, and he took a gun, saying he was going shooting. He said good-bye to the family and left. Almost immediately a shot was heard and the body was found. Letters to relatives in England were found on the body, expressing intention to commit suiside. It is said Bryant was despnodent as the result of an unsuccessful love affair.

WELLINGTON, Jan. 5

A man, so far not identified, was drowned from Clyde Quay wharf last night. A passer-by, Mr. J. Ward, heard a cry and then a splash. The police- and ambulance were summoned, and a man was got out of the water, but resuscitation measures l proved of no avail. In a pocket the man, who appears to be in the vicinity of 35, had a return ticket from Thorndon to Waipawa. He is clean shaven, lias auburn hair, and natural teeth. A BODY RECOVERED. WELLINGTON, Jan 5. The body of Jack Newborn King, one of the victims of the recent Parer.iata boating tragedy, was recovered to-dav near tlie scene of the capsize.
