CONTINUATION OF MATCHES.

WELLINGTON v. OTAGO. HOME TEAM CONTINUES INNINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON Dec. 27. Following the rain of Tuesday night and the bad conditions yesterday, the weather to-day is fine. The sky is clouded and the atmosphere somewhat close, but the indications are for bright ■sunshine throughout the day. An inspection of the wicket at Basin Reserve gives the impression that it is in excellent order for the continuation of the Plunket Shield match Otag v. Wellington to-day. The match was continued in fine weather.. McGirr and Lamason continued Wellington’s innings, batting freely. McGirr was out at 328, and Lambert went three runs later. Hoar was bowled without scoring. Henderson was last man in, but Lamason was run out after bringing 350 up. The innings closed at 12.11. Knight and H. Alloa opened Otaigo’s second innings. The scoring was very slow before lunch, which came with the score at 14, Alloo not out 8, Knight 3, extras 3. The additional scores are:

The Plunket Shield match Auckland v. Canterbury was resumed in fine weather. The wicket was in good order. Canterbury resumed the second innings with two wickets down for 12 runs. Brosnahan (5) ‘ and Page were the batsmen. Dunning’s fifth delivery clean howled Brosnahan. With the total at 16 Newman came in. Weir’s first over was a maiden. After steady play Page reached double figures. With 43 up Allcott replaced Dunning at the south end, and Player replaced Weir. The scoring continued slow. At 60 Bowley relieved Player, and Newman played his fifth delivery on his stumps* Hamilton joined Page and both batted solidly, bringing 100 up after 110 minutes’ play. HAWKE CUP. MANAWATU v. HAWKE’S BAY. PALMERSTON N., Dec. 27. The Hawke Cun match was resumed this morning in better weather conditions. Manawatu resumed its innings, good bowling keeping the batsmen quiet. The not out men, McVicar l and Pegden, by careful play, brought the score up to 140._ With the dismissal of Pegden, Manawatu had lost three wickets almost in succession, hut a good last wicket partnership between Tarrant and McVicar added 71. The innings closed for 223.
