TO-NIGHT. Organ selections will be a feature or lYA's programme .tins, evening. On the occasion of the first mystery night netd at lt r A, Mr Wilson, organist, aft the Baptist Tabernacle, playeu an item which mystified nearly all those wiio heard it, this being “The Doll Dance,” with variety effects. On that occasion most listeners guessed this item as a gramophone number, but to-night Mr Wilson will let listeners into tbe isecret of how his grand organ can be made to resemble very closely the recorded item. Ho has chosen items to please all tastes.
The Wellington City Salivation Army Band will provide the instrumental music at 2YA this evening. The band items will include several numbers with the spirit of Christmas. Mrs Daisy Basham, of Ngatea, Hauraki Plains, will sing solos from “lolanthe” and other numbers. Mr Ray Hemp (baritone) and Miss Rita Arnold (contralto) will be heard in solos and duets, and Miss Violet Wilson will supply elocutionary items'. A miscellaneous programme, including numerous classical but well-known and popular songs, will be presented by 3YA (this evening. The vocalists will be Madame Gower-Bums, bliss A. Innes (mezzo- soprano), Miss Hawey (contralto), Mis® N. Bowden (contralto) and Mr Ernest Rogers. Among the songs which are to be sung are “Annie Laurie,” “Coming Thro’ the Rye,” “The Last March,” “I Hear Yon Calling Me,” “0 Vision Entrancing,” “H Bacio,” and “The Last Rose of Summer.” Two fine elocutionary numbers will be given by Mr R. R. Wilis. These will be extracts from Browning’s famous “Pied Piper of Hamelyn” and! Lord Curzon’s “Captain Scott and His Comrades.”
