HOLIDAY BY CAR.

EXCEPTIONALLY HEAVY TRAFFIC

The Borough Inspector at Hawera reports that during the -holiday tune traffiee by road has been very heavy, especially camping parties, who have been going .through the town for some ten days in large numbers. A certain number have stayed here, but the bulk have been on: route for tno nortli.

Christmas Eve. was an extremely busy time in town and -the streets were thronged. Motor traffic was- very heavy and the inspector reported also that, despite the request for such traffic to- keep off High street, a considerable number of motorists, mainly from the bourhood, caused some dislocation, of traffic by no,t observing the request of the authorities.
