“AOTEA.”
“THE STAR’S” MAORI COLUMNS,
The following letter to the editor of the “Wanganui Chronicle” appears in to-day’s issue of that paper:— Sir, —It is very gratifying indeed to see that the “Hawera Star” has followed your footsteps in the matter of supplying through the medium of the Press, news in the Maori language for the benefit of the Native people. Therefore, as a Maori, and one who recognises the importance of the move taken by the “Hawera .Star,” as it concerns our people, I desire to thank the editor of that paper for his kind editorial remarks of goodwill and encouragement. The keynote of his utterances certainly hit the nail fairly on the head, and I sincerely hope the venture will be a success in every way. Before concluding, however, I also wish to congratulate Mr. Oriwa Tahupotiki Haddon for .being appointed to the position of Maori Editor of the Aotea columns. RANGI MARUM ARU. Wanganui, December 26, 1928.
