SCHOOL DANCE. The school dance was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday night and proved a very successful function. The attendance was very good and the many fancy di esses made a scene both bright and vivid. The music was in the callable hands-, of Ails A. A. Carey's u chest ra. The supper arrangements were in the hands qf the wives of the school committee and were all that could be desired. A feature of the evening was the folk dancing by both junior and senior pupils —the dances of quite a number of countries.

During the evening his Worship the Alayor. Air P. D. Finlay son, in a short speech complimented the teachers and the committee upon the success of the function and presented successful pupils with their proficiency and competency certificates. On behalf of the Standard VI. pupils he presented Air J. Alattliews with a handsome cushion. Air Alattliews suitably replied. Dancing for the pupils was kept up till K) p.in., when the adults took tile floor till I. a.m.

PRESENTATION. On Wednesday afternoon the .scholars of the Paten school assembled to bid farewell to Aliss E. L. Paterson, who has been on the staff for the' past, year. On behalf of Tier classes (Standard 11. and I LL. Air Alattliews presented Aliss Paterson with a beautifully bound and illustrated copy ol Shakespere’s . comedies and wished Aliss Paterson every success and complimented her upon the etiieiency of her classes. Aliss Paterson .suitably responded.
