SABBATH OBSERVANCE.

VIEWS OF TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.

At a meeting of the Taranaki Presbytery, held recently at Stratford, the following resolution was adopted: “That in view of the recent discussion in the public press on the question of Sabbath desecration, the Taranaki Presbytery definitely reaffirms its adherence to the historic position of the church in the matter.

“It urges all sections of the community to regard this day as a day primarily for rest and worship. It prays that the Christian churches will cherish, as their life, the sanctities of the Lord’s Cay. The Presbytery quotes with approval the utterance of that scholarly churchman, F. W'. Robertson, of Brighton, 'To recklessly lessen the hold of a nation on the sanctities of the Lord’s Day would be most mischievous ; to do so wilfully would be an act almost diabolical.’ ’’
