The police to-day recovered stolen church goods valued at more than d'JO.OOO dollars, and arrested a man giving the name of Joseph Bauer, Los Angeles, as the head of an international ring of church thieves. The loot included gold chalices. altar cloths, vestments, carpets, a gold candelabra and jewels. The police said Bauer confessed lie was implicated in other robberies in Los Angeles, eastern United States, and Europe. More than TOO Catholic churches in the United States and Mexico have been robbed.
