(From Our Own Correspondent.) BOWLING CLUB. The Patea Bowling Club paid a return visit to the AVaverley green on Saturday afternoon, when the third interclub match was played. Mr Christensen, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the -local club for the excellent game, and also the ladies for the dainty after- , noon tea. He also congratulated the _ club oil their recent success in winning the Kees-ing Cup. PLUNKET SOCIETY

The local Plunket Society held a most successful sale of work in Blake’s Buildings on Friday last, in aid of the society funds, ff'he following are the stall takings : Cake stall, £l7 1,0 s; produce stall, £2S 0s (id; needlework stalls £l9; sweet stall £5 ss. AVith other donations, the total amount raised benefited the society by £79 15s 6d with still more to come in. The committee are to be congratulated on the result of their efforts and hard work. The various guessing competitions resulted as follows: Ton of coal. Mr Blackiston; turkey, Airs S. D. Johnston ; pig, Aliss Gardiner; goose, MrsG Aiken; cushion and tin o.f biscuits, Airs D. Lupton ; doll and doll’s pram, Aliss Dulcie Cr-uickshank. RETAILERS’ ASSOCIATION. At a meeting recently held in AVaverley a scheme was put forward by the retailers of AVaverley who have just formed an association to endeavour to stimulate the coming Ohrictmas trade by illuminating the town with coloured lights and decorating both the inside and outside of the business premises with greenery, arrangements were left to Air EL C. Dallison and AV._ A. D'alrymple to arrange _ a combined business circular, also-a window spotting competition, which should create keen interest. Everything is well in hand, and good results should eventuate.
